Bicycle Moto Cross (BMX) started in the USA in the early 1970s as an affordable alternative to off-road motorbike racing, for younger riders

BMX blew up huge in the UK in the early 1980s with established bike company 'Raleigh' launching their "Burner" bmx bike, which was a poor imitation of the American bikes, but sold in massive quantities

BMX was featured on UK television during the early to mid 1980's, and BMX clubs all over the UK built race tracks where it was common to see hundreds of riders competing every weekend

I got my first BMX in 1981, and have ridden BMX on and off ever since; the bikes have developed as the scene itself has progressed beyond all recognition from those early racing days....into the skateparks, dirt jumps and street
